  Sometimes words can not communicate the heart. This is why we found a way to make instruments and create wavelengths of sound for emotions that words cannot hold. And why flowers are the keepers of so many of our human transitions. There are flowers for when babies are born, flowers for the celebration of hearts joining as one, flowers for when life goes out like the flame of a candle when goodbyes feel too heavy, flowers speak our condolences when I gather flowers together, its as if they create their own symphony of expression—sunflowers in all their stages, full blooming and a slow wilting into surrender. Gathered together in an arrangement of joyful melancholy, they create a song one can only hear if one genuinely listens.
