DESCRIPTION

Harvest. A time of abundance, the shifting of seasons, light turning to shadow earlier, allowing time for rest and presence. Harvest time is filled with color and extraordinary patterns that inspire the senses. Mahagony, golden yellow, burnt orange, and creamy white all weave together to represent this season of becoming. This breathtaking still life is part of a numbered edition of 175 in each size. The 16 x 20 inches and 18 x 24 inches come with a Certificate of Authenticity and are numbered, dated, and embossed with an artist seal. This fine art flower print is also available in 8x10 inches, a smaller but memorable way to invite this season into your heart and home. All my flower art photographs are printed on Giclée museum quality paper, allowing the photography to come to life with vivid color and detail. The ebb and flow of this life are captured in the photography and study of flowers.

We know dahlias as these magnificent blooms with intricate patterns. A range of rich, radiant colors. Once upon a time, they were used for their tubers. Never left to flower, but used as a food and medicine source, with their stems becoming water pipes. Before they were allowed to bloom, they were still so worthy, so needed. As I walk through the meandering lanes of the farmers market, I am always left speechless by the magnificence that nature provides—the stunning array of produce that nourishes us. The way flowers can be for adornment and food sources. The way can sit atop a cupcake with all their fantastic beauty and offer so much more beyond their exterior.

There is an enduring warmth in being surrounded by nourishment, nostalgia that floats on a breeze back into the forefront of the mind. As I was creating this still life photograph, I felt my grandmother's hands teaching me how to chop autumnal vegetables. I could smell the scent of her skin and the beginnings of the fire that my grandfather was making in the other room. Memories linger even as our futures shift and blossom into new creations entirely. We carry with us the stories of before, so much like the soil beneath our feet. Teeming with extraordinary life, constantly being reborn time and time again. Dahlias. So much more than their initial outer gaze. Invisible medicine is just hiding below the surface. The wonder in that. The wonder in it all.
