DESCRIPTION

A fine art study of our intrinsic worth. A floral reminder of the way when we sit in stillness, some of our most extraordinary work begins. This dahlia is seen in all its detail, an intimate study of this magnificent flower. This sweet, blushing self-romance is part of a numbered edition of 175 in each size. The two largest sizes, 16 x 20 inches and 18 x 24 inches, come with a Certificate of Authenticity signed, numbered, dated, and embossed with an artist seal. The smaller 8x10 inches is a remarkable gift to a loved one or yourself. All fine art prints from my collection are printed on Giclée museum quality paper for the finest images possible and come unframed to allow your customization. Our worth has always been part of our beings, not earned nor chased. Simply there, in all of our seasons.

Dahlias require fertile, moist but well-drained soil and a sunny, sheltered spot. Their tubers must be dug up in the winter and cozied up in a greenhouse or shed. After hibernation, you can hold them in your hands and bury them in spring soil to grow again and again. There is something so magical about the way dahlias require rest, and how the rest they ask for, does not, in any way diminish their beauty or their worth.

We so often think of growth as this perpetual moving ticking clock. As if our soul's growth can be set to a timer. Yet true growth has no time limit. It happens when we rest. Breathe. Allow ourselves space to fall, break and mend. Within deep rest, often our inner voice can find its innate power.

I sit with flowers alot in my studio space. I sit surrounded by them, and each of them has a story to tell. When I photograph them I do my best to capture what they share with me while also looking inside of myself at the parts of me that could use the medicine that flowers offer. With Dahlias what became so clear is their ability to communicate their needs, a voice that can say no as easily as they say yes. Looking at my own life I am so grateful for the times that I listened deeply to my intuition, saying no to projects or requests that simply did not fit within the life I was building. Remembering that none of us were placed on this earth to be in constant movement.

In order to bloom, we need rest. Water. Sunlight. A shade tree that shelters us when that sunlight gets too strong. We need moments of calm within the storm. We need the gentle breeze on our bare skin. To sleep in and allow our bones to recover. Deep breath in. May we move with the languid intention of flowers. Always.
