Collateral Beauty - flower art prints

Enjoy two exclusive floral art cards with every fine-art print purchase.
A photograph of the spectacular poppy on the brink of full bloom, this monochromatic depiction is available as an 8 x 10”, 16 x 20”, or 18 x 24” art print and is a numbered edition of 75 in each size. In capturing this magnificent stem I paused to consider how she — in addition to all the flowers that came before her — portrays the often hard to comprehend truth of a finite existence with such elegance and grace. Like every individual life form, flowers too must come and go. Yet in their often brief encounter with this world, they know not of the grief mankind experiences. Despite the certainty that in time they will fade and cease to endure, nature’s floral gifts surrender to all that they are and everything they were meant to be. Printed on Giclée museum quality, smooth archival fine art paper, this intimate capture comes unframed. The two larger sizes come with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and are numbered, dated, and embossed with an artist seal. Find wisdom and inspiration for our own beautiful being in this thought-provoking floral art piece.

Read moreOur human bodies were always meant to be finite. Every breath is filled with possibility along with the knowledge that it is a precious gift, to simply breathe. We are murmurs, heartbeats walking around, living our lives within a constant ebb and flow. We will experience the depth of grief, we will lose the people we love the most in the world, we will be faced with impossible moments that could harden us, or soften us into the most extraordinary version of ourselves we have ever been. I always look for something within the moments that tense every muscle in our bodies, a moment of serenity. Something I like to call collateral beauty. Collateral beauty Is what expression is based upon. The moments that lead to poetry, fine art photography, film, sculpture, painting, musical composition. The ones we love leaving this world can feel like the heaviest weight, and it is. There is no way to minimize the grief of loss, but there is something beautiful… you loved someone that much. You opened your heart and allowed another to come in, to walk with you for a while. In order to feel grief, you must first feel love. A part of you that is changed, but forever moved by the other.
Flowers have the most potent way of reminding us of this often invisible beauty. They bloom, they do not think about how or why, they do not worry about the length or duration of their life. They unfurl their petals just to feel the sun, if even for a moment, then when it comes their time to wilt and go back to the earth, they do so with the most delicate splendor. Abandoning fear and welcoming whatever their next adventure may be. As I watched flowers over the course of a year, I began to feel my own anxieties wane. Embracing this moment of growth and being, becoming captivated by the familiar. We are the darkness and the light. The sunshine and the storm. When we feel lost, let us turn to the flowers and remember the sheer magic of the present.
