Like the blooms before us in this art print, we too are all entrancingly distinct, yet so often we find ourselves looking a little too closely at those around us.   A thief in the night, comparison comes. A voice in our minds telling us that we should look, feel, act like another. No two entities can be held side by side and compared, for every element of life is created with attributes only meant for them. Yet still, we have these silent yearnings, leaning towards a light that feels brighter than our own. We forget that the path of ease is so very different than the path of abundance. Part of discovering our power is abandoning the obsession with caring about how others perceive us—quieting the voice that tells us to stay small, to hide from our gifts. 

  Flowers, as always, are the most potent vessels of wisdom. There are over 400,000 different types of flowering plants, every single one distinguishable from the other, each one blooming without asking for permission to do so. 

  Egg yolk centers surrounded by silken creamy petals. The same bloom, perceived from varied vantage points. The reality is, they are blooms of the same kind of flower, meant to appear identical. But, as you get a closer look, they carry their own unique blueprint of being. Particular crevices on the petals, the way they bend and curve, the pollen centers shaped anew with every new life. 

  Comparison is challenging to abandon, but the more we let go of seeing ourselves compared to another, the more we truly are able to be seen for all that we are. I like to imagine, instead of comparison, two beings side by side, gazing at one another in admiration, allowing the space for individuality to radiate outwards, and sitting in awe of the other. Recognizing that another’s talent, beauty, magnificence does not diminish your own.
