This floral art print depicting the sweet, singular blooms of a luscious stem of lilac is not unlike tiny butterflies — the universal symbol of transformation that evokes us to consider life can be short. As I saw the winged insects through my lens I was reminded of a lost love, a dear one departed so many years ago. Beyond the initial melancholy, however, there was a reminiscence that brought a smile, for it is said that the graceful butterfly can travel between the world we inhabit and the eternity that awaits us. Until then, in photographs we keep our memories. Moments preserved for a future recollection of a bygone time. A numbered edition of 75 in three different sizes (8 x 10 inches, 16 x 20 inches, and 18 x 24 inches) all printed on Giclée museum quality paper and delivered unframed with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, my hope is this floral print will be a visual recollection for you too.

There are moments of infinite light. The times where our whole body shivers with anticipation and excitement. Lilac butterfly petals on the skin that mimic the constellations above us. Constant reminders that we are never truly alone. When I was young there were stories of butterflies being the only insects that could travel between this world and the afterlife. My grandfather passed away and my whole family felt the heaviness of grief. My mother especially was transitioning into a life without her father. The day before she arrived at my home, a butterfly came to visit. 18 stories up, they flew, and they stayed for four days by my bedroom window. When my mother came in, I brought her to my butterfly friend. She gently put her finger outside the window, the butterfly hopped on her pinky, a recognition of sorts and then flew away.
It is for love that we stay alive, love of another, love of creation. It fuels us to continue even when we are in the depth of shadow that life will always bring. This fine art print brings me to that place of butterflies. That feeling of possibility, connection and remembering. Photography is the medium of remembering, this uncanny way of capturing moments to revisit time when we feel the nostalgia welling in our hearts. Lilac butterfly wings reminding us that this world is full of instances that take our breath away. That first meeting of eyes, standing under the northern lights, simply coming home and inhaling the familiar scents. There is always wonder around every corner. Butterflies waiting to lead us to our next grand adventure.
