The peony is a sign of protection, love, and compassion. Surrounded by mythology and symbolism, the history of this flower is rich with delightful stories. Each time I look into a rosy peony face, I can almost feel the kind, innocent energy they hold within. Pink peonies are especially symbolic to me - their feminine energy is tangible and their soft, graceful presence is infectious. They are known to bring ease to childbirth, delight to our romantic relationships, and compassion to our demeanors. I love the silkiness of their soft petals that open up to greet you - I feel they are expanding and growing, moving - similar to us women. And, what I love most about them is the joy they bring into any space. These beauties were a natural choice for the May series. May is my favorite month of the year. It’s the month where nature really shines. As peonies ripen in their natural growth cycle, we are surrounded by decadent fruits, fresh vegetables, and glowing lightning bugs. The days are longer, the sunsets are pinker, and life is a little bit easier. These fine art flower prints bring forth the sweet summer romances of our youth - the color palette is soft but cheerful, the arrangements are lush but contained. Echoing the beginning of the season, a delicate vibrancy is captured in the petals. As we gaze into the blushing blossoms we can feel the excitement of a summer well-lived. The Blushing Romance series sprinkles us with that timeless warm-weather enchantment at any time of year.

I love you.
I appreciate you.
I value your heart.
Your smile makes my heart flutter.
I cherish you.
How often do we let these words slip through our fingertips? Leaving sweet whispers unspoken, not showing up for the ones we hold dear. Romance is not only meant for lovers but for all who touch our souls. Flowers are messengers of time. The fleeting nature of it, the way it ebbs and flows. We arrange them just so to hold a moment in time within our hands. I go a step further, photographing to remember as time continues on.
As our society grows and shifts, there is a lapse in recognizing how short our time on this little blue planet is. A sense that we can wait until tomorrow to express our hearts. That we can look away when we should be looking up at one another. Lost in one another's lingering gaze. Peonies are a love story in the way they bloom. Their petals tightly knit, slowly opening as the sun and time leave kisses in their wake. An unfurling and collapse into the surrender of love. Witnessing this allows our hearts to find the courage to open. To be present for the ephemeral beauty of another. May we love in the language of flowers.
